ABSTRACT
The growth of the economy, industries and technology in Vietnam will be the
potential for the development of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) which uses
renewable energy sources and reduces the distribution grid dependence. The microgrid
is a typical model that takes advantage of distributed energy resources to improve
reliability as well as reduce the load on the National power system. This thesis
introduces a Microgrid (MG) model dedicated to factories with a large area, high energy
demand and the potential to develop distributed power generation sources.
The purpose of the thesis is to propose a model of a factory scaled microgrid
based on the current characteristics of factories, and industrial parks in Vietnam. Based
on this model, a control algorithm for the Energy Management system (EMS) is
recommended to manage energy sources in the typical cases of a microgrid, such as
³*ULG-FRQQHFWHG´DQG³,VODQGLQJ´VWDWHV
The factory scale microgrid operation is simulated in this thesis. The simulation
model refers to an existing factory, which included distributed power sources such as
diesel generators, Photovoltaic systems (PVs) and Battery Energy Storage System
(BESS). The purpose is to see the adaption of the proposed algorithm for this grid.
