Standard data [10] were used to identify the diffraction peaks for TiO2. The mean grain size D was estimated from Scherrer’s formula, i.e., S  K  / Bcos   where K is a dimensionless constant, usually 0.9, 2θ is the diffraction angle, λ is the X-ray wavelength, and β is the full width at half maximum of the diffraction peak. Figure 1 shows grazing incidence X-ray diffractograms for TiO2 films sputter deposited onto glass substrates kept at different annealing temperatures. No diffraction peaks due to titanium oxide were found for un-annealed samples. However annealing at 450 °C led to diffraction peaks corresponding to pure anatase, and further heat treatment at 500 °C made the diffraction peaks grow in intensity with the (004) reflection being strongest. Applying Scherrer’s formula to the anatase (101) peak, it was found that D ≈ 15.8 nm after annealing at 450 °C and D ≈ 17.8 nm after annealing at 500 °C. (Z. Topaliana, Resistance noise in TiO2-based thin film gas sensors under ultraviolet irradiation, Journal of Physics: Conference Series 76 2007) Các phương pháp phân tích cấu trúc 2. Atomic Force Microscopy • The Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) uses various forces that occur when two objects are brought within nanometers of each other. • An AFM can work either when the probe is in contact with a surface, causing a repulsive force, or when it is a few nanometers away, where the force is attractive. 2 0.5 0 -0.5 -1 -1.5 attractive -2 0.7 0.9 1.1 1.3 1.5 d is tan ce (An g s tr o m ) 1.7 1.9 AFM Modes of operation   Contact Mode: Direct physical contact with the sample Non-contact Mode: Tip oscillating at constant distance above sample surface • In “contact mode” the AFM measures hard-sphere repulsion forces between the tip and sample. “contact” and “noncontact” mode • In “non-contact mode”, the AFM derives topographic images from measurements of attractive forces; the tip does not touch the sample (Albrecht et al., 1991). • In principle, AFM resembles the record player as well as the stylus profilometer. However, AFM incorporates a number of refinements that enable it to achieve atomic-scale resolution: 1. Sensitive detection 2. Flexible cantilevers 3. Sharp tips 4. High-resolution tip-sample positioning 5. Force feedback Sơ đồ nguyên lý hoạt động của AFM
