Topic/Unit: Can ability Duration: 40 Content: ‘What can you do?’ ‘I can …….’ ‘I can’t …….’ ‘I can’t …….. but I can ……’ Week/Date Commencing: Week 6 Materials: Sticky Ball Ball Dice Flash Cards Procedures: Aims: Put flash cards on the board (birthday, Christmas, Valentine's Day, Teachers' Day, Tet, Halloween)if they can say the dates of these events they can win a sweet. ‘what is the date today?’ ‘it’s the ………’ Re-cap Ask students what there favourite day of the year is, is it there birthday? Ask one student what month their birthday is in? write the month on the board. Then elicit the other months, write them on the board. Ask students if anybodys birthday is in October, write the numbers under october, mark their birthday. Ask three more students ‘When is your birthday?’ ‘My birthday is……’ Correct language gets a point. Re-cap 5 Elicit volcab, . ‘swim, skip, cook, walk, volleyball, tennis, guitar, cycle, swing, skate, swim, fish, football, piano, chair’ with the flashcards, then draw a line on the board, with the words elicited from the flash cards, on the other side of the line write the compliments, E.g ‘ play football, play volley ball, play the piano, play guitar’ Elicit new volcab 5 Introduce sentence structure, ‘what can you do?’ ‘I can ……’ ‘I cant …..’’ Drill the language, do some examples with the TA, throw the ball around prractice with students before moving on. Introduce sentence structure Pair work to practice the language with each other. Time: 3 5 2 Game –throw the ball to team one, ask one ò the students ‘What can you do?’ if students replies corectly they get to throw the dice for points, then that student throws the ball to team 2 and the process reepeats its self. Practice Fun game to practice the target language 10 Introduce next part of the sentence structure ‘I can’t …….. but I can ……..’. example with TA and drill. Introduce sentence structure 4 Target game – choose two students from each team they practice language with each other, ì corect they throw the ball at the target on the board for points. Use flashcards, to show picture of famous people, students must say ‘He can ……..’ ‘She can…….’ Points for correct answer. Practice 4 Re-cap 2 Re-cap
