Objectives. - By the end of the lesson, students can : + Use some football vocabulary to ask and answer about World Cup. + Practice speaking in group/pair to talk about the World Cup winners. + Learn something about the World Cup II. Contents: 1.Knowledge: - Ss should already know some information about World Cup. - Ss will be able to use some new words related to the World Cup. 2. Skill: - Fluently in talking about the World Cup. III: Teaching aids - Board, chalks, textbook and notebook. IV. Procedures: 1. Class organization ...1 min Class Atttendance 10A2 2. Check the previous lesson ( 5 min) -T asks one Ss to rewrite the new words. Teaching date -T check and give mark. 3. New lesson: Time and stages 1. Warm- up (7m) Teacher’s activities - Shows a picture of The Vietnam national under-23 football team. - T asks Ss to look at the picture and name this football team. Asks Ss some questions: + Where was the AFC U-23 Championship held? + Which teams played in the final match? + Which team become the winner? + What was the score of the match? + Which footballer do you like the most? Why? Students’ activities - Look at the picture. - Answer the questions. *Suggested answers: 1. China 2. Viet nam with Uzbekistan 3.Uzbekistan 4. 1-2 5. Quang Hai ,Tien Dung, Xuan Truong... 2. Prespeaking (10m) - T asks Ss to play a mini game: “ Matching” - Shows four pictures of the English, French, Italian and German national football teams and T also shows a few flags. - Introduces the game and divides whole class into two groups. Ss in each group have to match these four national football teams with their flags. - Listen to the rule from teacher - Play game - Which group has quicker and more correct answers will be the winner. Whilespeaking (10m) - T elicits answer from students , encourages them if they know more about these football teams. - T leads in the lesson: “These are some teams that take part in the World Cup. To know more about World Cup, we are going to study Unit 14 - Part B: Speaking”. -Suggested answers: Keys: 1- F, 2- G, 3- D, 4- C Task 1: Practice the dialogue - T asks Ss to open the book. - T asks Ss to work in pair to read the example in the page 145. - Gets Ss to know how to read scores: 4 – 2: four to two 3 – 0: three to nil 0 – 0: nil to nil 2 – 2: two all -Listen to the teacher. -Open the book. - Work in pair to read the model dialogue. - Calls some pairs to practice the dialogue. - Gets ss to underline the key: times, host country, winner, score. -Practice. - T asks Ss to make similar dialogue by using the information in column about AFC U-23 Championship. - Underline some main points. Take turn to talk about the World Cup winner, using the information in the table. - T asks ss to look at the table in page 146. - T asks Sts to read the example in the textbook. - T prepares small papers numbered from 1 to 17. - T ask Ss to randomly pick a small paper, and whoever gets the number will talk about this World cup winner. -Look at the table in page 146. -Read the example -Work in pairs - Gives feedback and correction , encourage ss talk more information about World cup winner. - Practice - Practice in front of class - Read the model - Pick a number and talk about World cup winner. 5. Consolidation: (1m) - Ask Ss: What have you learnt today? - Summarize the main points of the lesson. 6.
