ABSTRACT
Together with the growth of information technology in the world, the
information technology and communications are becoming grower and grower in
Vietnam. Vietnam always gives priority to this sector. Vietnam Information
technology and communications are currently developing with the average speed of
65% per year.
Personal computers which were assembled in the home market
accounted for 90% market share in 2013. On the infrastructures of Internet and
telecommunications have digitized 100%, the number of mobile subscribers increased
by 50-60% a year, the number of internet users accounts for 80% of the population.
Making use of the development of information technology, on 03/19/2009 the
GIG joint-stock company was established. The company provides products and
services relating to the information technology for all partners from many different
sectors such as banking sector, education sector, the public administration sector…
The company is growing; confirms its position in this sector.
With the commendation of English Faculty- University of Ecommerce, I was
fortunate to have opportunity to practice at the GIG Corporation. After 4 weeks
internship, with the help of the leaders and staff in the GIG Corporation, I had the
opportunity to come face to the face with reality and understand more about the job I
will do in the future. I also took knowledge about some basic information needed to
complete my internship report.

CHAPTER I: GENERAL INTRODUCTION ABOUT THE BUSINESS
1.1: The process of formation and development
1.1.1: General introduction about parent company: TVHT Corporation
TVHT Corporation is a large company consisting of 4 small subsidiaries.
Because each subsidiary is specialized in different sectors, the business sectors of the
company are very diversified. For example, GIG company is specialized in
information technology, ALU Viet Nam Co., Ltd company is specialized in the field of
communications and travel, Perfect Link company is specialized in the field of the
beauty, Dai Ha law limited liability company operates mainly on the law. TVHT.,Corp
is developing sustainably to confirm its position in the market and in the society. The
time and the leaders of four subsidiaries are:
+ March 2009: TVHT Corporation set up GIG Corporation, led by Mr. La Minh
Quy. He is the vice- chairman of GIG Board of Directors and the chairman of TVHT
Corporation.
+March 2009: TVHT Corporation formed ALU limited liability company. Mr.
Do Xuan Loc is the Executive Director and Mr. Nguyen Van Tai is the Deputy
Director.
+ April 2009: TVHT Corporation formed Dai Ha law limited liability company.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thuong who is the Executive Director is the leader.
+ November 2009: TVHT Corporation formed perfect link joint-stock company
and Mr. Le Kim Hoang plays a role as the Executive Director.
1.1.2: GIG Corporation
GIG Corporation operates in the different sectors but mainly in the field of
information technology. The company was formed in 2009 and is developing. The
environment of the company is very large including both foreign market and domestic
market. GIG also is known by the great business partners and has gradually asserted its
position.
- GIG., Corp is the abbreviation of GIG Corporation.
- 19 March, 2009: The company was founded under the license number
0105202765 by Ha Noi Department of Planning and Investment.
- 2009: Establishment of GIG developing solution communication Group.

- 5 July, 2011: Establishment of GIG Travel Centre under the GIG Corporation.
- December 2012: GIG Travel Centre was divided, established GIG accounting
enterprise.
1.2: Business Sectors
GIG Corporation is a multi- sector joint-stock company. However, the company
focuses mainly on the field of information technology and telecommunication. With
the motto: “Quality is the best”, the name of the company is the name of the Ajax God
in Greek mythology. This deity is very strong and loyal. GIG Corporation uses the
characteristics of the Ajax God to build core factors in GIG culture.
- Business sectors:
+ Trading and exploiting service network by using Internet, computer,
especially software for education; value-added services for mobile phone.
+ Consulting about investment and construction for customers; surveying;
designing; constructing; managing and maintaining the computer network and the data
transmission.
+ Producing, exporting, importing, trading materials or specializing on
computing devices and computer software programs. GIG is the provider of security
solutions, equipment for projects. The facilities are imported directly from the famous
companies in the world.
+ Setting up the database, providing the news services through internet data
transmission under the regulations of Ministry of Information and Communication.
In the process of the formation and development, the company has had many
achievements in business. GIG is improving and developing continuously in order to
keep pace with the speed of the information technology development in the world. In
addition, GIG has also developed some big projects such as: Designing the
professional websites for schools; supplying the security solutions for the projects.

The responsibility of Board of Directors:
- Deciding the strategies, the medium- term development plans and the annual
business plans of the company.
- Deciding on the investment plans and the investment projects.
- Appointing, dismissing, signing the contracts, finishing the contracts with
director or general director and other people following regulations of the company;
deciding the salaries and other benefits of those managers; appointing the
representative.
-Supervising, directing the director, general director or other managers in
conducting daily business activities.

- Being responsible for supervising; receiving the information from the units
and reporting for the leader.
- Managing the facilities and the equipment of the company; planning for
buying the equipment which is approved by Director.
Business Department:
- Planning and implementing the plans.
- Setting up the distribution system.
- Performing the sales activities in order to creating profits for the company.
- Integrating with the other departments so as to create the best services for
customers.

Technical Department:
- Technical Department is a unit under the management of the company. It has
the function of giving advices for Board of Directors about the sectors such as:
engineering, information technology, and quality of websites.
- Managing, storing the technical profiles in the company; keeping technology
secrets.
Customer Care Centre:
- Supporting, proposing customer care plans to satisfy customers.
- Developing, implementing customer care strategies in order to build
professionally customer care activities.
- Giving the solutions, the programs to care for customers easier.
- Supporting the related information for the consultancy services of the centre
for customers when they need.
- Receiving the feedback from customers and giving the solutions.
Comments about the organizational structure:
GIG organizational structure is designed compactly. It is the online-functional
style to ensure activities quickly and effectively.
According to the structure, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thang who is the head of Board
of Directors will be helped by the Heads of Departments. They will help Mr. Thang to
give the ideas or contribute to the GIG decisions.
The Head of Board of Directors Mr.Thang is still responsible for all kinds of
work and has the highest right in the business. The transferable information are formed
by the regulations. They are the advantages of GIG organizational structure.
However, this structure still remains some disadvantages. Mr.Thang has to
solve continuously the relationship between the online department and the functional
department. In addition, when the Heads of functional departments have the different
opinions, the leader has to hold a lot of meetings. This will make the leader feel bad
and creates low results. With this structure, the company should use the consultants or
a personal assistant. It likes the consultants in the troop. By this way, the leader of GIG
can make use of the specialized skills of some experts and doesn’t need to build a
complicated structure.

2.1: The products and the major markets of the company
2.1.1: The main products
2.1.1.1: Electronic address book service
GIG provides five SMS packages of service with the lowest price. Electronic
address book service is a software system supporting for education management:
- Helping teachers manage all the students in some aspects such as:
attendances, scores ...
- Sending the messages to parents of the students, timely updating scores and
necessary information.
- Creating an effectively connecting channel between families and schools.
- Storing and easily searching the information about education and training.
2.1.1.2: Digital signature services
GIG is a company which supplies the digital signature services for CA2 and the
company is the second enterprise providing some digital signature services in Viet
Nam, including:
Firstly, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI): The technical infrastructures relate to
safety, security and accurate transactions on the electronic environment, PKI
guarantees the criteria:
+ Authentication and absolute accuracy.
+ Integrity, anti-fake in content.
+ Against the rejection.
+ Absolutely securing information.
Secondly, the digital signature: Used to sign the document, PDF, VAT invoices,
tax declarations and other website applications.

GIG is a company specializing in the fields of electricity, electronics,

meeting the standards of Vietnam and international, GIG supply and is in combination
with the top equipment suppliers to cater the infrastructures for these systems, namely:
- Importing and exporting, supplying the advanced equipment with high quality.
- Designing and giving the technical advice for the projects at all levels of

GIG has had partnerships with many partners which are not only in the field of
Internet service providers, but also in providing software solutions for the domestic
market and many other business sectors. The company is working with equipment
suppliers such as Netcom Corporation, Hanel CSF holding Communication company
..., GIG also cooperates with the telecommunication partners and the network
solutions.
2.1.2.1: Information technology
GIG continues to provide the best services to customers, therefore, the
information about the services and products of the company has always been
concerned by the customers. The company's websites are professionally designed and
easy to use, high quality and suitable display. In 2010, because of the new
establishment, the company had to face with many competitors in the home market
and the foreign market. However, only two years later, the company overcame other

competitors and had the new partners such as Hanel CSF holding communication
company, FTC VN telecommunication joint-stock company...
2.1.2.2: Bank
The main products and services of the company include: E- Check, Internet
banking, data transmission, security in the banking systems, the stock exchange
transactions through the Internet; the exchange of confidential reports and against the
rejection, the financial banking exchange...In recent years, the activities of the banks
have gone down, so, they have affected the operations of the company, there will be
fewer banks using the services of the company. Some main partners in this sector: the
SHB bank, the Vietnam Asia Bank....
2.1.2.3: Public Administration
The core partners in this sector include: the Netcom company, the Quan Nhan - Hanoi
trading joint-stock company... GIG services and products in this field include: Security
systems in the electronic texts, public shopping system and official systems &
government documents, electronic portals, client-server applications or integrated
website based PKI ... This important sector relates to the organizations, so the
requirements for the company are also higher. From the end of 2012, GIG has received
more orders from customers. However, in 2013, because of the difficulty of the
economy, the company was reduced in the number of orders.
2.1.2.4 : Education sector
In this sector, the products and services of the company are very well- known and have
many partners such as: Department of Education and Training in Hiep Hoa District,
Departments of Education and Training in Cau Giay , Ba Dinh , Dong Da , Tu Liem ,
Ha Dong ... Bao Loc Education Department , Department of Education and Training in
Thai Binh ; Department of Education and Training in Thanh Hoa , Department of
Education and Training in Ho Chi Minh City ... Because of the importance of
education, the products and service of GIG are in the interest of many partners .
Products and services in this sector include: the document management systems and
the electronic contact services ...The number of the products and services are
constantly increasing, so in recent years, the company is focusing on developing the
products and services in this field .

2.2: Business activities analysis

Comments:
In general, the revenue of GIG had high growth in three years 2011, 2012 and
2013. The total annual revenues continued to increase. Revenue in 2011 was 100
billion dong, in 2013 revenue had reached 917 billion dong, it was higher than 9 times
in three years of development. We can see the difference in revenue between 2013 and
2011 was 817 billion dong which was higher than the growth of revenue in 2012 about
517 billion dong.
Cost is one of the criteria showing the scale of the business activities, and is the
standard for calculating the profitability and efficiency in production. On the whole,
the cost of the company increased through the years from 85 billion dong in 2011 to
230 billion dong in 2012, in 2013 revenue was 880 billion dong. The reason was the
company invested some new facilities and equipments in order to diversify the
services and upgrade the quality of the customer network system.

About the profits, from 2011 to 2012, the profits rose from 50 billion dong to
80 billion dong. However, the profits fell down to 40 billion dong in 2013 due to the
decrease of Vietnam's economy. Most enterprises reduced in the profits, many
businesses went to bankrupt. To survive and develop, the company should have clear
strategies so as to reduce the costs and increase the profits.
2.2.2: Capital and capital structure
GIG has 10 billion dong chartered capital. Currently, GIG capital is from
shareholders. It doesn’t include the capital of the office systems, facilities of the
headquarter, and three transaction offices at Son Tay, Ha Noi, and Ho Chi Minh city.
2.2.3: Labor and labor structure

Technical Staff:
GIG technical employees are trained carefully in order to follow with the
development of the information technology and the requirement of markets. GIG
precious asset is the technical experts which possess the certificates in the international
technology such as CCNA, CCNP (Cisco), OCA, OCP (Oracle), MCSA , MCSD,
MCSE, MCDBA (Microsoft), the certificates of SUN, HP, IBM ...
Warranty staff and customer support:
This team is very important, directly contact with clients because this team is
recruited and trained carefully, in accordance with the standard:
-Young and well-trained, 100% graduated from reputation colleges and
universities.

2.2.4: Salary and salary structure
The form and method of payment are divided into different ranks. Each
hierarchy has different level of salary. For staff, salary will be paid monthly.
Moreover, company also gives extra money if he or she creates profits for the
company.

- Extraordinary bonus: for the extraordinary employees working well.
2.3: Reviews and comments on strengths and weaknesses
2.3.1: Strengths
Business sectors of the company are an advantage: In spite of operation in
many sectors, the major business sector of the company is still in information
technology and communications. This is a trend in the world. There are some benefits
we can easily see as:
- This is the fastest way for the company to be known by everyone. This helps
company to attract customers and business partners.
- The GIG services is the Electronic address book service, the digital signature
services, the website design; as a result, the application of the information technology
is an advantage.
- Information technology help the company save the costs and gain greater the
profits.
Diversity in the business activities: GIG is known as the top supplier in the
equipment and accessories materials for the telecommunication sector and the
information technology. The company can consult, provide technical supports and
other services, GIG can supply some integrated systems of the telecommunication
equipment and information for customers, is confident in the quality, satisfied with the
products and services that the company offers.

Employees are trained in the information technology sector. They have had
many years of the experience. GIG Corporation commits to provide customers with
the best quality services. Moreover, staff graduated in electronics - information
technology, telecommunications, economic and had firmly professional knowledge. In
addition, they have much experience in operating systems and providing services,
coordinate and deal with the problems of the information systems.
Expanding the relationships in domestic market and foreign market:
Information Technology and Telecommunications is the fastest way to expand the
relationships at home market and foreign market, helps the company have new
business partners.
GIG is equipped with the modern equipment and techniques. GIG has the
head quarter and trading office system located in the center of Ha Noi and Ho Chi
Minh city. These places are stable and long term. With this configuration and current
system, GIG guarantees to provide the best data transmission service in Viet Nam.
GIG system can supply for 5 to 7 billion students and easily upgrade system to meet
the increased students.
Commenting on the use of English in the company (benefits): English has
played an important role in the company, contributed to the success of the business.
Because company operates in information technology and telecommunications, the use
of English is very important. English is seen as an important language and necessary in
the process of transaction management. In order to be selected to work in the
company, applicants must have the basic English certificate. GIG Corporation is
currently in the process of further developing English language at homepage of the
company (www.gig.vn). Accordingly, this page will always update the information in
English and Vietnamese. The given text will be written in the form of bilingual
Vietnamese - English in order to serve the needs of the management, work of the staff
in the company.
2.3.2: weakness
Company size is not really large because GIG is a subsidiary of the TVHT
Corp. As a result, GIG will be limited in the scale and the number of employees.

Meeting through internet: Meetings of company are remote. This is not a
comprehensive measure and doesn’t meet the requirements about the quality of sound,
images, reliability, especially, systems with large participants. In the meeting, sound
and non-verbal (gesture, posture) are very important, help the partners know exactly
what you mean, increase the work. Particularly, the image signal and the audio are
entered in PC at the same time, are transmitted over IP networks without the
coordination, the support of the quality of service, this will make the image signal and
the sound are not comprehensive, creates phenomenon of congestion, packet loss, hear
no sound or image is frozen.
Although the requirement when recruiting of GIG is English skills, they are
still at basic level, there are not many high English skill employees. Employees have
deep knowledge about the information technology, but English skill is enough, do not
have professional in a particular field.

CHAPTER III: SOME PROBLEMS IN THE BUSINESS ACTIVITIES OF GIG
COMPANY
3.1: Some emerging issues in the business activities
3.1.1: Capital
Because GIG capitals are from shareholders, they are still small. In addition,
there isn’t diversity in the capital resources or the capitals from employees in the
company. As a result, there isn’t not enough capital for the company to operate.
Company doesn’t make use of some prior policies such as policies about supporting
price, capitals in business, the relationships with partners or capitals from the
government. The amount of capital which are used for the business are still limited.
This makes company miss the opportunities.
3.1.2: Marketing development
Now GIG is facing with many difficulties both in domestic market and foreign
market. Although researching market is very important for the company, the company
lacks Researching and Developing Department
In home market: The competitive abilities in price, website quality, services,
technique are being improved but they are still weaker than other companies which
have the same business sector. GIG doesn’t use all possible means to do the business.
Name of the company isn’t known by many people. For now, the market research of
the company still remains limitations, GIG lacks interest in this issue. Company hasn’t
had department which is in charge of market study, collecting and dealing with
information in order to give the solutions for different periods.
In foreign market: Information technology is becoming more and more
developing in this market. However, the challenge is whether company can exist in
that competitive environment.
In that market, they spend a lot of interest in the investigating tasks, market
research, they help companies know the characteristics and determine the way for the
development. Challenge for GIG is to create the software websites, services which are
suitable to the characteristics of each country.

3.1.3: Competitive market
Accepting market economy means that GIG must accept the fierce of the
competition. GIG is specialized in the information technology, so the company is
under the competition of home market and foreign market.
Home market: Because of the development of the information technology,
the company will have a lot of competitors in the future and which firms are stronger
they will win. This will put pressure on company. Only in the first quarter 2013, there
were more than 200 companies which are related to information technologies were set
up. However, a lot of them went bankrupt.
In foreign market: This is a difficult environment for GIG. Employees of
GIG have had a lot of experience in the information technology but they haven’t had
high English skills. This will limit the ability to take part in the foreign market of GIG.
Moreover, skills of staff in the foreign companies are much better than staff of GIG
company.
3.1.4: Organizational apparatus
Leaderships: The leaderships of the company have had professional skills
and high qualifications. However, they undertake a lot of spots at the same time. For
example, Mr . La Minh Quy is the Executive Director of GIG , the vice chairman of
GIG Board of Directors and he is also the chairman of TVHT Corp or Mr. Le Kim
Hoang is the member of GIG Board of Directors, the Executive Directors of Perfect
Link company, the vice chairman of TVHT Corp. We can see, a leadership holds too
many positions, he can’t focus on anything. In addition, GIG is a subsidiary, the
priority will be given for parents company.
Distribution work for each staff: There isn’t specialization in work, staff in
Finance- Planning Department can do the work of staff in the customer care centre.
3.1.5: Human resources
In general, human resources of GIG are young and highly professional skills,
sometimes, a staff does the works of other people and a staff doesn’t have anything to
do. They have little experience about market research or planning strategy. The
unequal levels between staff still remain. There are some employees with the little
experience.

Information technology operates in modern telecommunication infrastructure

3.1.7: Security for GIG
Transaction via computer network, databases are the form of the digital, it leads
to strict requirements about security, safety, losing money, phishing, stealing or
changing information of the databases becomes more and more popular at companies.
GIG supplies the security services for enterprises. However, GIG is sometimes
attacked by hackers, only in the last 6 months, 2013, GIG was attacked by hackers in 3
times, they stole some secure information and created virus in order to destroy GIG
database. Nevertheless, the damage was small because of the GIG good security
system. According to Ministry of Information and Communications, the conflicts often
relate to the electronic signature and the electronic contracts, confirmed services, the
secret code products…They are the services which GIG is selling. There were some
small conflicts in the company.

3.2.1: Solutions for capital issues
Business requires the working capital to hold the large density in the capital
structure, so the company needs some solutions in managing and mobilizing the
capitals, especially in the working capital.
About managing the capital: Last time government managed the capital but
government didn’t have good management, this led less effect in using capital. Now,
companies hold their capitals, it helps companies to be more active in doing business.
The company should mobilize the capitals from the different resources such as:
- Increasing the attracting capital activities for the company.
- Exploiting completely the stagnant capital or leisured capital in Departments
