Objective 1. Knowledge - More understand about Japanese’s culture - Know about some customs which Japanese do o their New Year’s Day 2. Language Vocabulary items: similarities, kimono, shrine, housewives, longevity, constancy, decorate, pine tree, represent... 3. Skill - Listen to get specific information about New Year’s Day in Japan - Develop extensive listening skill - Answering comprehension question II. Teaching aids - Speaker, computer, projector, textbook, tape script, III. Method: integrated mainly communicative IV. Procedures Time 7ms Teacher’s activities - Student’s activities -Greeting the teacher Greeting the student Warm- up Guessing : which country - Teacher shows some images related to one country and require students give the name of that country by the way guess the name of each picture. Listen carefully - Guess the name of picture - Give the name of country => Japan - Topic: talk about Japan - Call the student guess the name of its Cherry blossom Conan Samurai (picture) (Picture) PHU Si mount Kimono JAPAN (Picture) (picture) Sushi (Picture) Doremon (picture) - Ask the student about the topic of the lesson - Introduce some aspects culture in Japan - Lead in the lesson: Listen about the New Year celebration of Japanese UNIT 8: CELEBRATION - Ask the student open their book and guess which of the following activities the Japanese often do on their New Year’s Day Listen carefully - Read the list of activities Help the student translate if necessary - Work in pair to guess the activities Japanese often do - Listen and answer the teacher’s request - Listen the teacher and repeat aloud - Take note on paper 10ms I Before you listen - - Question: What other things do you think the Japanese also do at the New Year? - Call some students to give their answer - Call some students answer the question - Asks the student look at the pictures and introduce the new words on the listening passage *Vocabulary + similarity(n)- similar( adj)# difference(n) different(adj): sự giống nhau, tương đồng,như nhau +kimono(n): bộ trang phục ki-mô-nô (picture) + longevity(n): trường thọ + housewife(singular)- housewives(plural): bà nội trợ + shrine (n) temple (synonym): đền thờ, miếu +pine tree(n) cây thông (picture) + constancy(n) - constant(adj): sự thủy chung,sự trung thành +represent (v) – representative (n): đại diện, biểu trưng - Ask the student listen and repeat - Call one or two students read the new words Set situation : to check the activities we choose at first ,we are going to listen two people talk about “ how the Japanese prepared in their New Year “ 15ms II While you listen Task 1: Listen and tick (√) the things you hear - Ask student read the statements below and give them instruction” read the list of activities and underline the key words “ - Play the tape two times( if necessary) - Play the tape the second time to check their answers and give feedback Listen and underline the key word to get correct information from the tape - Listen carefully and Tick (√) the thing you hear - Discuss with a friend - give the teacher the correct statements - Check the right answers with teachers Ask student gives their answer in front of the class and compare with friend - - Ask students work individually - Work individually Make some example: put on special clothes, clean the house, bell ring, prepare special food… - - *Suggested answers: 1√ 2√ 3√ 4√ 5x 6√ 7x 8√ 9x 10 √ 11√ 1. they put on special clothes 2. everyone clean the house 3. bell ring 108 times 4. housewives prepare special food 6. they go to a shrine 8. they drink rice wine 10. they watch television 11 .they eat a special meal Answer the question follow the information you hear in Task 1 with the assistance - Work in pair - Take note the information if you can - Listen and try to answer the question above. Compare the result with friends - Answer the question in Task 2: Answer the comprehension question - Before they listen the tape again, teachers try to help them answer the question depend on the information they hear in Task 1. Help the student identify the questions (why-reason; what- thing; ..), highlight the important information. - Ask them work in pair - Ask the student listen carefully and answer the question. Compare with friends - Call student answers the question in front of class and compare with whole class - Play the tape again to check their answers. Japan Clean house before New year Housewives start cooking special food Decorate house with pine trees, traditional symbols..  Decorate their house with kumquat tress, peach blossom, balloon, flower... Foods and clothes Food: banh chung, mut tet, gio.. Clothes: Wear new clothes; Ao dai, Activities Watching special program on television Watching firework in big square Give best wishes or lucky money The first foot People celebrate Whole family, friend, close Food: Sushi, Ozoni cake, Kagaminocchi cake, Toshikoshi SobaClothes: komono Watching television Hear the bell ring 108 time Give the best wish Eat Toshikoshi Soba on eve’s night Only family with 3ms relative...
