1. Your favorite season In the north of Viet Nam, there are four seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Among them, I like autumn most for 3 main reasons. Firstly, during the autumn, the weather is very perfect. The temperature is about 23 degrees Celsius. It’s not too hot and not too cold. In the autumn, most of people feel comfortable. The weather is perfect for many activities, such as climbing, camping, picnicking, fishing, etc. Secondly, autumn is very romantic. In the autumn, you can see clear blue-sky. You can see many beautiful colors of the leaves. They are red, yellow or may be the combination of these two colors. Finally, you can wear not only simple but also fashionable clothes. Because it is not too cold, you can wear modern dresses with many colors and designs suitable for particular years. I love autumn very much. It recalls many happy memories with my friends. 2. Your favorite food My favorite food is Pho. Pho is one of the famous food in Viet Nam, especially people who live in Hanoi capital. There are many kinds of Pho, but it has 2 main types, Pho with beef and Pho with chicken. The main ingredients of Pho are rice noodles and broth. Broth is made by bones of pig. When I eat Pho, I can add things such as chilli, pepper. I remember the first time I ate it. That tastes very delicious. When I was a small child, my mother used to take me to eat. I can’t cook it because it belongs to traditional secret. In my freed time, I often cook a meal for my family. I often cook rice, roasted meat, braised fish and broth. When I cook meals, I feel happy and warm. 3. Your hometown I’m glad to tell you about my hometown. I think there are many beautiful things to introduce to you. I was born in Ninhbinh province which is located the north of Viet Nam. Ninh Binh is the old capital of Viet Nam. It is very beautiful and peaceful. The air is very fresh. There are many limestone mountains. You will feel comfortable if you live there. There are many beautiful spots, particularly, Trang An ecotourism, Bai Dinh pagoda, Cuc Phuong forest,… if you visit my hometown, you can eat goat meat, overcooked-rice and drink Kim Son wine. People in my hometown are very helpful, hospitable and friendly. NB has many industrial companies. The main industry is the industrial buildings with many cement factories. My hometown has changed a lot. It is nicer and more modern. I love my hometown very much, because my family has lived there. After I graduate, I will come back to work in NB. I want to use my knowledge to develop my hometown. 4. Country life and city life Country life and city life are different in several ways, such as economic, transportation and lifestyle. Cities are noisy, crowded and modern. In the country, it is very quiet, peaceful and backward. People in the city have many health problems and suffer from serious stress. 5. Routine My weekdays usually start at 6 when I get up. After that I have breakfast at 6.15 and go to school at 6.45. At 11.00 I come back home and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, I often play badminton to keep fit. After dinner at around 7 p.m I relax by listening to music for about 30' then prepare for the next lecture. On Friday evening, however, I like to go out with friends and we eat together. Weekends are the time I spend with my family. We often have many cozy chats and meals together. I love my current routine as it is the balance between study and entertainment. I still have time with my family so I don't want to change it for the time being. 6. Your favorite TV programs I am very fond of watching television, I often spend 2 hours watching TV after dinner. Of all the TV programs, I like the news best. The news programs are shown on all TV channels at 7 p.m. It helps me know almost everything about different places in our country and important events happening all over the world. Through these programs, I can also know main national and international sporting events. The news programs at weekends are my favorites. By watching them, I can learn a great deal about human civilizations, discoveries of great people in the world. Watching television is always my hobby. 7. Describe the book you read recently When I was a child, I was interested in reading books. I read many kinds of books including culture, economics, law, love, ect. Among them, my favorite book is “Do you like the United States?” I read that book last weekend. That moved me to tears. The book talks about the love of a young girl. Her first boyfriend was her neighbor. He was 5years older than her. She loves him very much. Suddenly, her boyfriend had gone to US. She was very sad. Sometimes after she goes to college, she met another boy. He was a cold boy. They was a famous couple at university. In the senior year, the boy also went to US because of his mother. She was very disappointed. She graduated and worked in a building company. She met another man and married him. That is the most exciting book I have ever read. 8. Your favorite sports My favorite sport is football. When I was a child, I was interested in watching TV about football. Most of people in the world like football, so it is called the king of sports. It is not only men play but also women play. I also play football since I was a small girl. The reason why most people like football is that it is easy to play. You can play it if you have a ball. Playing football can improve my health. Football is useful, healthy and collective. Nowadays, there are many football clubs in every country in streets, in the city. Besides I love football because in the football teams there are many handsome players. 9. A particular friend or a group of friend I have many friends. But I prefer to have a particular friend to a group of friends because of 2 reasons. Firstly, it is not easy to find people who have the same thinking and hobbies with me. Secondly, it will be easier for me to share the sorrow and happiness than having a group of friends. 10. A person you admire Everyone has a person to admire. They are a teacher, a colleague or a famous person. To me, that is my father who has had a major influence in my life. He is a wonderful father. He is 50 years old. He is a worker. He works in the Bac Trung Bo industrial chemical mining company. He is of medium height. He has black hair, bright skin and brown eyes. He is very humorous and gentle. He cooks very well. He knows how to take care of his family. He always stands by me when I have problems. He often gives me a lot of useful advice. I love my father very much. To me, he is always a good father. 11. Your holiday Last summer, my family spent 2 days going to Sam Son beach. I had many happy memories with my family there. Sam Son which is located in Thanh Hoa province is one of the beautiful beaches in the north of Viet Nam. The weather was very wonderful. In the first morning my brother was interested in building sand castles while my mother was sunbathing. At the same time, my father was swimming in the sea. Then, my family had lunch. In Sam Son beach, seafood is not only fresh but also cheap. We saw sunrise, sunset and took photos together. The total cost is not much. Next summer, my family will visit Sam Son beach again. 12. Describe a party I have many exciting memories. But I remember my friend’s birthday party most. Last Sunday evening, my best friend invited some close friends and her colleagues to her birthday party. She celebrated her birthday party in her room. At 7 p.m, everyone had come. I gave her a present and a birthday card. She said “thank you very much”. Then, her mother brought out a big cake. We sang “happy birthday” and ate it. After eating, we chatted and took many photos. I met 2 old friends. It made me happy. I went home after a funny party. 13. Describe a computer In my free time, I often search for information on internet. You knew. Computer has become increasingly important and popular. Computer has been one of the amazing inventions used since 1946. Since its appearance, computers have contributed to mankind in an useful way in all aspects. Computers can do simple calculation such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and decisions. It can do 500000 times faster than a person can do with pencils and paper. Nowadays, most of people can’t work without a computer. It has become important in life. 14. Your study Studying is one of the most important things to help people improve themselves. I also appreciate studying as the best way to lead myself to achieve my own goals. I am taking part in an English communication course at the moment. I think I can enhance my English speaking skills after finishing this course; especially I may have a good reaction in communication. The most interesting point is the studying method with working in groups or teams. Students are divided into several groups and discuss a particular topic such as environment, education, job, hobby, etc. However, it is difficult to remember special vocabulary and develop ideas in a logical way. That is one of the reasons why I usually go to the library. It is a helpful source to find out materials and useful information to self-study. 15. Sport Sport is one of the most important things for people to stay healthy and entertain. They can play some simply games every day to increase peer pressure ability (khả năng chịu đựng áp lực) and release stress. Moreover, watching sport programs helps relax people relax after tiring working hours. The emotion following the competitive is diverse, which spreads inspiration into people. We can easily make friends who have the same taste of sport. I would like to play sports like badmintons, walking, aerobics, football, and volleyball. I love Arsenal football club thanks to their efforts and image in the game. They always play with their heart, talent and fair competitiveness. Nowadays, we should encourage young people to play sports by creating competition in work places, open more sport centers with promotion. 16. Transportation I now live and work in Hanoi which it is one of the most crowded city in Vietnam. People in this city mostly commune by motorbikes and public transportations or private cars. Traffic jam is really a serious problem here which costs much time and effort. The huge number of vehicles, the attitudes of drivers, outdated infrastructure is blamed as reasons for this situation, which can hardly change immediately. People now lost significant time to go to office and school at peak hours. The air population is getting worse. The government always tries their best to find solution to this problem. However, drivers should change their attitude instead of getting annoyed. People should turn to public transports, compliance with stricter traffic laws. 17. Describe a national occasion Viet Nam is located in the South of Asia. Being different from most of the Western countries, we start on the 1st January counted following the Lunar calendar. It means that we step into New Year about one month later than most of countries. It is the most important time in year with all Vietnamese people. Everyone has 1 week off to enjoy their great time. They will buy some kinds of trees such as apricot, peach, orange , etc. We cook “chung” cake, “day” cake and boil chicken. During Tet days, children and elderly can receive lucky money. People give best wishes for them such as long life, health, happiness to each other. On the first day of the New Year, people go to the pagoda to pray for good health, luck and success in the coming year. Tet is always such a great time of each Vietnamese person anyway!
